Mission

Redpoint aims to excel in providing evidence-based individualized training and rehabilitation, to emphasize education and autonomy, and to promote conscientious practice focused on climbing athletes' health and performance.

History

Redpoint was founded by Montana Rhoden in 2022 with the vision of creating a comprehensive training program and resource for the rock climbing community. This idea for Redpoint first emerged during time spent training in the rock gyms. With a background in physical therapy and combined passion for rock climbing, Montana saw an opportunity to provide education and guidance to his fellow rock climbing community. Training programs often lacked thoughtful structure and basic principles needed to improve success. In addition, little resources were available to mitigate training injuries. Thus, Redpoint emerged to meet this need by providing injury risk reduction education, rehabilitation and coaching, and conditioning programs to prepare climbers for their next redpoint.

One-on-One Sessions and Teamwork

I want to provide exceptional guidance while being respectful of your time and money. You will always have direct, one-on-on, and uninterrupted sessions. My role as a healthcare provider and coach is to be your partner in your rehab and training process.

My approach is based on current high-quality evidence, the biopsychosocial model of care, the dynamic systems theory, and the concept of antifragility. I emphasize education and active interventions. It is my objective to support and encourage my clients in pursuit of their health, rehab, and performance goals. I will work with you to design a plan individualized to your specific needs with attention to overcoming any challenges or barriers to success.

I am an Oregon native with equal ties to Central Oregon and Willamette Valley. During my youth, I spent much of my time exploring the outdoors and participating in a variety of sports. I was introduced to powerlifting and the principles of strength and conditioning at age twelve. I quickly became hooked on applying progressive overload. By age sixteen, I was bench pressing, squatting and deadlifting over two times my bodyweight.

While I was introduced to rock climbing at age fourteen, it was not until years later that it gradually overtook my passion for powerlifting. However, I never abandoned heavy resistance training as I understood its role in improving my rock climbing performance and reducing my risk of injury.

My formal education has provided me with the amazing opportunity to empower others. By applying the sciences of physical rehabilitation with those of strength and conditioning, I want to assist others in overcoming injuries, breaking-through training plateaus, and staying active and healthy.

A long-term mission of mine is to create an evidence-based resource in the climbing community for injury rehabilitation, injury risk reduction, and performance training. As a long-time climber myself, I understand the unique physical demands of the sport and how to treat and reduce the risk of common climbing related injuries.

While the body has an amazing ability to adapt and heal, we sometimes need to guide it with intentional and intelligent movement. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Certified Performance Climbing Coach, it is my mission to empower you with the education and tools you need to succeed.
